The Board of Supervisors (Board) of the Dunes Community Development District (Dunes CDD) approved a 43% reduction in the Prepaid Discount Toll Schedule effective October 1, 2012 for the Hammock Dunes Bridge (Bridge). The Board had reduced the Prepaid Rates in January of 2011 and determined this additional reduction could be accomplished while still providing for long term maintenance and repair costs to insure this critical transportation link is kept in top condition. Because approximately 35,000 local residents and businesses utilize the Prepaid Discount Plan, the Board felt that any rate reductions should first benefit those that use the Bridge frequently. The new Single Rate Prepaid Discount Plan provides that a minimum payment of $20.00 or more will result in a net cost of $0.50 per trip. Below is a comparison of the current and new Prepaid Discount Toll Schedules showing the impact for two axle vehicles.
The change to the Prepaid Discount Toll Schedules does not affect the current One-way Cash Toll Schedule.
The Dunes CDD strongly urges local residents and businesses that have not previously taken advantage of the Prepaid Discount Plans to do so now. The Prepaid Discount Plans offer you two significant advantages over cash payments: 1) four times as many trips across the bridge and 2) greater convenience because the toll attendant simply scans a Dunes CDD UPC sticker on your car or card. Applications for the new Prepaid Discount Plans will be available after October 1, 2012 and may be picked up at the Bridge Toll Booths or Bridge Office.
